The prophet of Islam calls for knowledge
Even if food is the basis for building the body and renewing its activity and strength, then at the same time it is one of the causes of its weakness and disease, there is nothing in the human body that is more harmful to it than adding food to food and crowding the stomach with it, excess satiety leads to glut, and glut leads to illness, and sickness leads to death.
The danger of overeating
Excessive eating leads to excess fat that impedes movement and burdens the body, so laziness takes, hold of it, so it is not energized to work and does not hasten to duty, except for the dangerous diseases he is exposed to, and the stomach, although it is the most stressed organ or performs work, it is weak in parts, thin tissues, so if it is strained more than necessary and carried beyond its capacity, the heel rushes to it, and it becomes weak and sick.
Excessive food and drink increases the burden of the heart just as a full stomach puts pressure on it, thus increasing its fatigue and exhaustion.
The sayings of the Prophet of Islam coincide with the scholars regarding the harmful effects of overeating
And if scientists had reached this scientific result in the twentieth century, then Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, preceded them by saying:
“Do not kill the heart with too much food and drink, for the heart is like a planter that dies if it gets too much water.”
He also said:
“The son of Adam did not fill a vessel worse than his stomach.”
Al-Muqawqis, the ruler of Egypt, sent to the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, with three gifts: a maidservant, a mare, and a healer.
The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, accepted the first and second gifts, we are a people who do not eat until we are hungry, and if we eat we are not full.
Damage to the stomach on the general health of man
And his saying was eternal wisdom and expensive medical advice that will remain for the rest of time And the many harms caused by individuals in eating food is what made our master Omar Ibn Al-Khattab say to people (Beware of the stomach, for it makes you lazy to pray, spoils the body and leads to sickness).
This is a set of noble prophetic hadiths (talks) that were mentioned by the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, about diet 14 centuries ago, and medicine is still a breastfed child, then medicine grew up and grew up, and it only found evidence and investigation, because the stomach is a main organ for digestion, and digestion is the basis of human life, and in its health is his health and happiness and in its illness is his illness.
And if its effect was limited to the imbalance of health and the weakness of the structure, then its misfortune would be reduced to it, but in its illness there is also the illness of the mind, so whoever has a weak stomach and indigestion narrows his morals and weak thinking and production, and that four-fifths of people’s misfortunes are caused by the deviation of the work of the stomach and its digestive system.
From where did Muhammad bin Abdullah get this truth, who was illiterate who grew up in the desert of Mecca and did not sit in front of a teacher and did not study in a scientific university?!
The answer is given by God, when He says, Glory be to Him:
{and has taught you that which you did not know. And ever has the favor of Allāh upon you been great}.An-Nisā 113
The usefulness of medical the miswak
Over the years, dental researchers and medical publications have studied the natural antibacterial properties found in the miswak, which is extracted from the roots and branches of a very particular tree called the Salvadora Persica, or Arak tree.
Medical research has proven that the microbes that hide under the teeth attack these teeth after each meal, causing rotting, eroding the gums, and the emergence of unacceptable odors that come out of the mouth and call for disgust from the owner.
The director of the Institute of Microbes and Epidemiology at the University of Rostock in the Democratic Republic of Germany published a research in which he proved that the miswak used by Muslims since the era of their Prophet is one of the finest means of cleaning teeth because it contains an effective substance that weakens microbes, similar in effect to that of penicillin.
In 2008, the World Health Organization recommended the miswak as a healthy alternative to the toothbrush.
After hundreds of years, Europe came to act like Muslims, so it brought out the toothbrush in imitation of this miswak, which the Noble of Islam, may God bless him and grant him peace, advocated for dental protection.
Likewise, Islam calls on Muslims to rinse their mouths in every ablution, and this is an increase in precaution and preserving the health of the teeth.
